WebThe speculation and vacancy tax is an annual tax based on how owners use residential properties in areas in B.C. affected most by the current housing shortage crisis. The B.C. government announced the expansion of areas where the speculation and vacancy tax applies. Owners in these areas will not have to declare until 2024. WebThe Foreign Buyers Tax rate is 20% of the fair market value of the property and is applied once at the time of purchase. There are some exemptions to this tax, including if you are confirmed on the BC Provincial Nominee Program or if you are acquiring a property on behalf of a Canadian-controlled limited partnership.
